Vicious Virus

Everyone knows that being sick is no fun, no matter where you are. Wednesday started off like any other day, I got ready, went out to the U.N to take care of some matters and met Hubs for lunch.  Then, my body started to have the early stages of “classic aches”.  Uh-oh.  I was surprised I even got back home in one piece!  I practically collapsed on the couch only minutes after making it home, and slept for a bit.  After waking up, the chills, a fever between 101-102, and body aches were in full force.  Ibuprofen was not helping and after about 24 hours we called to have an in-house doctor come in.  It’s a great service here, especially if you are incapacitated like I was and couldn’t risk getting to an ER with any kind of transportation.  Hubs took sick leave for a “dependent” and came home that afternoon. (yes, you read that correctly, no matter who the “dependent” is in your family, you have the right to take off to care for them when they’re sick).  After it was all said and done, I was plagued with a nasty stomach virus and we all know what that means – it has to run its course.  Oh great!  I got through one of the worst winters Vienna has seen in years without getting sick once and this is when Mr. Vicious Virus decides to make his appearance.  What’s up with that?

So as I slowly recover from this, I hope that I will be back to normal before our trip to Budapest next week. I’ve already missed out on a concert at the Konzerthaus last night and a few other engagements that were planned for this weekend.
