Throwback Thursdays: One of the happiest days of our lives

09.09.09 was the day that we got married. The number “9” in the Taiwanese culture means longevity and eternity. This particular date was also an auspicious date for the both of us. How fitting. Even though we eloped, we had all the elements of a real wedding. We had an officiant, photographer, videographer, hair/makeup artist, a beautiful location and wedding coordinator. How the heck did we pull this off without anyone, but the vendors knowing? It’s safe to say, that we are excellent secret keepers.

You may recognize the “house” in the background. It’s in the movie “Wedding Crashers” during Claire’s sister’s wedding reception at the beginning.

And year after year, we would go back to where we were married. Our tradition was to have our picture taken on the pier where we were pronounced husband and wife. It’s trickier than it looks! Try using a self-timer on a dock post (where the surface isn’t flat) and praying that the camera doesn’t fall in the water with a slight gust of wind!  Also, we always had a table by the window where we had our first dinner.  Somehow, we always got the same server too. I’m really sad that we won’t be able to continue our tradition, but this year we are spending five days in Prague. Not a bad alternative.

Almost four years in a few days, and that’s not counting the 2+ years of dating prior. I can’t believe we’ve been together for a little over six years! Where has the time gone?
